Michael is an attorney who has resided principally in Virginia since 1972. He lives in Norfolk and has three adult children. He has his own law practice and is a graduate of the University of Virginia, B.A., with high distinction (1974)and University of Virginia, J.D. (1977). Michael was a member of the Virginia College Building Authority ("VCBA") by gubernatorial appointment from July, 2000, to June, 2004, serving as the Authority's Vice Chairman from July, 2002 to June, 2004. He is also licensed to practice law in Alabama and Texas.

Michael is a sometime LGBT rights activist and political/news junkie. He came out in mid-life and shares his experiences and perspectives on his blog: http://michael-in-norfolk.blogspot.com/. In his spare time, Michael enjoys blogging, surfing, sailing, reading and spending time with his patrner and his three children. Michael has been active in a variety of community civic and charitable organizations in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area and was a founding director of Hampton Roads Business OutReach ("HRBOR), currently the only Virginia affilaite of the NGLCC.
